Yes! Tamed somewhat but never tame. Not bowed down, or meek. Rather,they are calmed, reassured and strengthened by a kind hand.
In the first paragraph I used the word "obediently" to describe Aeryn's reaction to John's weather forecast. And in retrospect I'm a little worried that it gives the image of a pod!Aeryn - I think possibly the word "patiently" would have served better, as really, she is sceptical of John, not meekly and blindly accepting. (I'm hoping no one else but me noticed! Hee.)
