This made me laugh out loud today. Though, thoughtfully, only after I put the phone down.

Last week I cancelled my rental agreement for the tv and aranged for them to come and pick it up in a month. Did this because my Dad, bless him, has given me an old tv of his and Mum's. They have a nice spangly one.

Then I got a call from the rental people. Uh oh, I thought. Some problem or other. They said, 'Oh, did I want to PURCHASE the tv I am giving up? For only £25?'

Well, sounds a mildly ok deal, although tv is ages old. Still, don't need it, so "No thanks."

Then, 'Oh, would you just like to keep it anyway? Maybe give it to a local charity or something?'

ME: "Oh. Ok then."

There may be nothing inherently funny about this exchange, but I howled with laugheter when I told my Dad. First they tried to sell it too me. And then they didn't even wait to do a subsequent, "Oh, we've thought about it and would you like it free?" call.

No! Just right there! 'Can we relieve you of £25? No? Never mind, then. Keep it anyway.'

I have a feeling I should be miffed or something, but dude! JUST. Hysterical.

lol, well, first off my Dad is gonna take a look at it, because the picture was getting a bit "liney" on at least itv. So, it's highly poss that no one else will really want it, your good self included!

What with a deteriorating picture and the fact that it only had one scart socket, I should really have traded it up ages ago, but the rental price was really cheap (compared to current prices) and I didn't want to cough up more dosh!

If Dad can see if it can work properly, then I'll start thinking about what to do with it. The fact that the woman on the phone tactfully said "donate it to a charity" instead of "sell it on ebay" actually makes me feel all virtuous about it, and that I SHOULD give it to a good cause. Unless it IS a bit crappy of course! lol

Hey it's good to see you online! When are you off to college (is college right? Couldn't recall the name!)?

(((hugs you)))
